Rail Lead - Professional Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rail Lead-Professional Civil Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will lead and manage various rail and/ or civil engineering projects. This role requires expertise in civil engineering principles, particularly in the design, construction, and maintenance of railway systems. The Rail Lead-Professional Civil Engineer will be responsible for overseeing project teams, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering high-quality results within budget and schedule constraints.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop work opportunities with rail focus or multidiscipline projects.
  • Support hiring & development of rail design/ construction oversight staff.
  • Performs due diligence and feasibility studies for new design projects.
  • Prepare and/or supervises engineers and technicians in preparing detailed plans and specifications related to rail/ civil engineering projects, such as mainline tracks, industrial tracks & sidings, roads, bridges, railbeds, sewer and storm drainage, water supply, structures, or related facilities.
  • Prepare and/ or supervise engineers in preparation of proposals, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents for engineering projects.
  • Interact and develop working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate rail/ civil design functions in multi-discipline projects.
  • Perform or supervise engineering inspections of construction of rail/civil engineering projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports on the progress and completion of engineering projects.
  • May supervise or direct the conduct of field surveys preliminary to project design.
  • Secure data, prepare reports, and make presentations for internal staff or external client/customer meetings on proposed projects.

Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices applied to project design and construction.
  • Knowledge & familiarity with AREMA guidelines and Class 1 design guidelines and standards
  • Understanding of rail operational practices
  • Extensive knowledge of the basic principles and practices of engineering field and office work, including drafting and surveying.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, methods, equipment, and materials used in construction of rail/ civil engineering projects.
  • Ability to understand and direct precise survey measurements and to make and interpret survey calculations.
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate and interact with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and clients/customers.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS in Civil Engineering with Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Registration.
  • Experience: Minimum Seven years’ experience in rail/civil engineering design and construction or other related engineering work.
  • Requirements: Applicant must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
