Work Term: Temporary Work Language: English or French Hours: 35 to 37 hours per week Education: Bachelor's degree Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years Work site environment Clean Work setting Community or retail pharmacy Hospital or clinical pharmacy Industrial pharmacy Pharmaceuticals manufacturer Laboratory Tasks Advise customers on indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or to other health care professionals Administer budget Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication Check prescriptions for proper dosage Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring and mixing the right quantities of drugs and other ingredients Hire and train staff Maintain medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs Manage the storage, packaging and distribution of medicinal products Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and other staff Co-ordinate clinical investigations of new drugs Control the quality of drug products during production to ensure that they meet standards of potency, purity, uniformity, stability and safety Develop information materials concerning the uses, properties and risks of particular drugs Evaluate labelling, packaging and advertising of drug products Formulate new drug products developed by medical researchers Participate in research for the development of new drugs Promote pharmaceutical products to health professionals Test new drug products for stability and to determine absorption and elimination patterns Leading/instructing individuals Supervision 1 to 2 people Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses  Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Certification Certification for drug administration by injection and intranasal route Pharmacy Examining Boards of Canada Certification Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities Regulatory investigation Regulatory affairs Area of work experience Quality assurance or control Medical specialization Pharmacovigilance Specialization or experience Specialized environmental skills and knowledge Security and safety Drug test Immunization records Basic security clearance Criminal record check Driver's validity licence check Eligible for professional liability insurance Transportation/travel information Valid driver's licence Work conditions and physical capabilities Manual dexterity Combination of sitting, standing, walking Repetitive tasks Fast-paced environment Bending, crouching, kneeling Attention to detail Work under pressure Large workload Own tools/equipment Safety glasses/goggles Personal suitability Accurate Client focus Dependability Efficient interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Flexibility Initiative Judgement Organized Reliability Team player Screening questions Are you available for shift or on-call work?
