Sr. People and Culture Business Partner – Manufacturing

Profile:

As part of our People and Culture (P&C) team, you will be the primary contact for the assigned Manufacturing client groups. The P&C Business Partner coordinates and administers employee relations, benefits, policy implementation, and other P&C functions in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.

Your Role:

  • Implement People & Culture initiatives for your client group, including talent assessment, succession planning, training, and development, etc.
  • Provide coaching for organizational change within respective client groups.
  • Proactively support and coach Managers and Supervisors on employee relations and employee development.
  • Remain current on all applicable employment legislation.
  • Provide counsel, interpretation, and support to client groups regarding personnel policies, processes, programs, and applicable labour laws.
  • Participate in strategic planning and development of People & Culture initiatives.
  • Work with Plant Managers on developing staffing plans.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Talent Acquisition on recruitment and hiring efforts for our manufacturing plants.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring all related paperwork and enrollments are processed in a timely manner and regular check-ins are completed with new hires.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends.
  • Participate in benefits and systems audits.
  • Educate employees on the company’s benefits programs.
  • Organize or support the organization of wellness events for each manufacturing site.
  • Support safety training assessments and recordkeeping as required.
  • Support the disability management and return-to-work process in coordination with the Compensation & Benefits Lead.
  • Investigate and document employee relations issues on an as-needed basis.
  • In coordination with Plant Managers, Managers and Supervisors, write and issue disciplinary letters and have disciplinary conversations.
  • Manage the annual salary and wage review process for your client group.
  • Manage the annual performance review process for your client group.
  • Support Attendance Management programs as required.
  • Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health & Safety, Corporate Culture, and Environmental Management by displaying the appropriate behaviors and leadership towards meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years Human Resources experience.
  • Travel across the region will be required.
  • Flexible and willing to jump in on any project that supports the business and the team.
  • Able to work well under pressure and manage a high volume of work, both transactional and strategic.
  • Able to handle difficult conversations with tact and professionalism.
  • Resourceful and able to solve problems independently and creatively.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven record of maintaining strict confidentiality handling sensitive issues effectively.
  • Strong proofreading, grammar, and editing skills; excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to use formulas and tools to develop professional reports and presentations.
