What Will You Do?

  • Provide support, guidance and manage the day-to-day functions of the Driver Service departments regarding Canadian/USA regulations, along with Erb policies/procedures and programs.
  • Focusing on Driver Service staffing and operational efficiencies in safety, training, and compliance.
  • Audit truck driver training facilities to ensure compliance with company policy requirements and communicating approved schools to the Recruiting department.
  • Ensure training mentorship program for drivers, dock, and yard are current and up to date.
  • Ensure standardized new employee training programs for drivers are interactive and promote positive engagement. The training orientation will be built in as part of the employee's personal development program.
  • Create and maintain all standard operating procedures (SOP) related to the driver position. i.e., Driver Certification Program, Entry-Level Program etc.
  • Revision and maintenance of driver manuals in conjunction with the Senior Director of Safety and Compliance
  • Coordinate with Corporate EHS Manager, Corporate Security Manager, and Corporate Human Resources Manager to ensure all job specific training is being met and recorded.
  • Ensure training documentation is being recorded in the employee's file.
  • Monitoring the DriveCam Program and ensure coaches are meeting company set threshold performance levels.
  • Aid in the investigation of equipment accidents, complaints, and policy rule violations. Assist in completing required paperwork. Review the investigations and advise on best practice training programs to mitigate future risks and accidents.
  • Monitor and maintain Erb Pro-Driver Program and aid in updating the program.
  • Promote safe work environments and work practices by ensuring compliance of all occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as required.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Minimum 5 years management experience, in a trucking industry is preferred.
  • Superior knowledge of the National Safety Code and Highway Traffic Act in Canada, along with the FMCSA regulations in the USA is required.
  • Previous training experience is required.
  • Certification in Fleet Driver Training, Accident Investigations, or equivalents.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work with mínimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively and diplomatically orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and departments.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AS400 required.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Analytical thinking, organizational and environmental awareness.
