Adult Navigator

The Open Doors is hiring a temporary Adult Navigator, to provide:

  • Trauma informed, person centered support for adults that are accessing services.
  • Triaging of needs, requirements and resources for the individual.
  • Coordination of service plans and case management for the individuals.
  • Completion of assessments and referrals for individuals, as required.
  • Attachment to local, regional and provincial resources and referrals, as well as access to other programming and community supports.

This position is a temporary position until May 2023, with the strong possibility of further permanency.

Requirements :

  • Be able to work as a contributing member of a team both within and outside the organization.
  • Be able to initiate collaborative conversations.
  • Be able to advocate with and for individuals, agencies and community partners.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Be able to proficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel and Gmail, to text and to use case management systems.
  • Strong communications skills, understanding technology will be utilized. You must be able to text well, and communicate via phone and video conferencing.
  • Understanding of rural and remote service delivery barriers.
  • Have a demonstrated knowledge and practice of harm reduction, trauma informed care, holistic and integrated response.
  • Have strong interpersonal boundaries.
  • Ability to communicate within multi disciplinary teams, and within varied levels of leadership.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Ability to pivot in responses as the program builds and adapts to the community needs.

Hours :40 hours per week

Location : Wetaskiwin, AB

Qualifications : Diploma and Degree in Social work, psychology, or equivalent.

ASIST or suicide intervention trained

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/ Deescalating Potentially Violent Situations trained.

First Aid Certification

Criminal Record Check

Wage: $21-$23/ hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Education :

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience :

  • youth support and/or navigation: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
