Our Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Program in Wetaskiwin is seeking a: Full-Time Outreach Worker

The PSECA (Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act) is funded through the Ministry of Children and Family Services and has been created to provide protection and specialized services to children and youth who are at risk of or engaged in sexual exploitation. The goal of the program is to help children and youth and their families reduce the risk of sexual exploitation in the community and on-line.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Diploma or Degree in the Human Services Field
  • 2 years of experience with high-risk youth in either residential or outreach setting
  • Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
  • Knowledge of PSECA as well as CYFEA
  • Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and infant CPR &AED
  • Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
  • Intervention Record & Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, Clean Drivers Abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture considered an asset.
  • Strong documentation and assessment skills.

Responsibilities include :

  • Work from a strength-based approach.
  • Educate and inform youth and families of rights under PSECA , and act as advocate when necessary.
  • Assist in finding community support for youth and families.
  • Raise awareness of the needs of this population through community presentations, community connections and workshops
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Maintain record and file management in accordance with PSECA.

Wage Range : $28.65-$30.84 per hour, wage to be negotiated based on education and experience. Plus, Travel Reimbursement at $0.55/KM.
