Mier Recruitment is hiring!Title: Senior Estimator (Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metal)Location: York Region, ONLength of Assignment: Permanent, Full-TimeSalary: $,/yr Job Overview: Responsible for reviewing construction documents including drawings, take-offs (BOM) using Bluebeam and other software available and comprehend the full scope of the work to bid. This will entail actual preparation of take-offs Responsible for developing cost estimates on projects for steel structures, miscellaneous and architectural metals as required by the client's construction documents which will/may entail communicating with the customer/client for bid clarification by following set TCS estimating processes and procedures Responsible for preparing changes to cost estimates when the contractor issues CCN, CD or CO or when the availability of materials or labour changes Responsible for preparing schedules and reports the progress of for each project to ensure that customers, and the internal team are kept informed on the progress of the project this information will be tied to the progress billing for the customer as well Responsible for ensuring that actual project cost estimates are aligned with the related cost estimates this by issuing reports related to revenue and expenses on a regular basis during the duration of the project Responsible for working with suppliers, for placing orders for materials and timely delivery of the same Obtain pricing for materials from suppliers to incorporate in bid packages Responsible for finding ways to reduce costs for materials, supplies, equipment and outside services including labour to ensure both competitiveness and to maximize margins Responsible for advising the team about the most cost-effective ways of construction and value engineering Responsible for preparing, recording and comparing bids from multiple suppliers, vendors and subcontractors Responsible for contributing knowledge and expertise in helping to solidify and improve on our current manufacturing processes, including working closely with our manufacturing and operations team Responsible for mentoring junior estimators and other team members Responsible for identifying and analyzing customer needs and developing solutions adapted to the client's expectations which includes site visits and customer meetings. This would entail being able to effectively read and analyze blueprints, drawings, plans and all other information Create and maintain accurate records and following company policies and procedures and document all activities required to manage projects Assist in the preparation of all pertinent project and division related reports making them readily available for management review Coordinate activities with the estimating department and operations to allow for appropriate lead time for their contribution towards the project Communicate and discuss scope of new projects with Management and conduct review of drawings, reports, and any other details of the scope of the project If you meet the above qualifications, please submit your resume.Please note that while we appreciate all applications, only those being considered will be contacted.
