Rate of Pay: $39.80 - $50.72 per hour

Reporting to the Manager - Behavioural Sciences Centre, the EFAP Mental Health Clinician will provide evidence based, short term, client centered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and related approaches to individuals with mild to moderate mental health issues related to obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxiety, panic, phobias, social anxiety, depression and trauma. This role requires a demonstrated appreciation of client-centered strength based care including the importance of accessibility, accountability, best practices and evaluation. It also requires knowledge and/or experience with decision guide processes, brief services including group and individual counselling, motivational interviewing, evidenced based practices, and holistic programming..

Qualifications : Education/Experience :

  • Master of Social Work Degree; Master in Counselling; Master in Clinical Psychology
  • Current registration with designated college and registered with the College of Psychotherapists
  • Documented evidence of formal CBT and CPT training with supervision/clinical consultation is preferred
  • Experience providing EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
  • Experience supporting clients in group settings (Critical incident stress debriefs, diffusing and grief), as well as experience with addictions, youth, parenting, marital and family counselling
  • Knowledge and experience with referral processes and triage, decision guide processes and system navigation, assessing and treating individuals with persistent mental health concerns
  • Training and experience in motivational interviewing and solution focused methods, principles in self-management and strengths-based interventions
  • Experience/training in a variety of evidence based therapies such as: solution focused therapy, EMDR, CPT, CBT, DBT, and group therapies, ASIST training or equivalent

Skills/Abilities :

  • Superior interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) to effectively communicate with colleagues, partners, program managers, and directors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the etiology and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders, as well as OCD and PTSD
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant sections of legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Health Care Consent Act) and professional standards to ensure compliance and consistency in provision of client care
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships within an inter-professional team as well as strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Passionate about contributing to positive social change and commitment to anti-oppression and anti-racism
  • Understands the importance of providing evidence-based mental health care and measurement-based care and demonstrates a commitment to participating in ongoing consultation and continuing clinical education
  • Knowledge and skills in a range of theoretical perspectives, psychosocial rehabilitation principles, self-management and holistic wellness approaches

Assets :

  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience working with Indigenous people and people of other diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is considered an asset
  • Experience working with 2LGBTQ+ individuals is considered an asset
