Be our next Geotechnical Engineer-In-Training!Your work environment at EXPEXP’s Earth and Environmental Group in Sudbury, Ontario is currently searching for a Geotechnical Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Jr. Engineer to work under the supervision of our Senior Geotechnical Engineers. We are seeking a committed, detail-oriented individual who will be able to utilize their background degree and potential previous experience, on a variety of projects in Northern Ontario. In addition, we are looking for a candidate to support a seven month project with one of our large mining clients locally in Sudbury.What a day at EXP has in store for you Developing civil projects including site plans, public/private infrastructure, water resources and other geotechnical/environmental projects as per applicable design standards and specifications. These projects include field work, design, construction, supervision and project management. Performing technical analyses and reviews of various infrastructure projects. Perform checkable design calculations and outputs with the use of selected software or manual calculations. Prepare maps, drawings, figures, etc. Prepare reports, memos, plans, and studies. Produce client ready technical reports. Develop proposals, presentations, and cost estimates. Project management functions to ensure projects meet the defined objectives, schedules, and cost estimates. Work closely with clients to achieve successful project outcomes. Interact with other related disciplines – geotechnical, hydrogeology, geochemistry, rock mechanics, permitting, environmental, structural, mechanical, electrical, etc. Perform other project related tasks and duties as assigned. What your experience looks like Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Civil Engineering. 2-3 years of experience will be considered an asset. Registered as an with PEO or in the process of getting the Professional Engineer license in Ontario ( Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English). Experience with various geotechnical instrumentation (Standpipe piezometers, VWPs, Inclinometers, . Dam experience is an asset. Preferable to be located/familiar with Northeastern Ontario communities. Strong knowledge on AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 3D modeling software or other drafting software is an asset. Knowledge on other software such as Civil3D, GeoStudio, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, etc is an asset. Knowledge of relevant Canadian & USA standards, industry guidelines, and current industry practices. Good organizational skills with initiative, and that can handle challenges during execution of these projects. Ability to prioritize and do multiple tasks in a fast-paced turnaround environment. Desire to provide excellent practical client service and a commitment to technical excellence. Must have a valid driver’s license. Able to occasionally travel to project sites primarily in Northeastern Ontario.
