Permanent position Shift: Monday-to-Friday days, 6am - 2:30pm Salary: $22.98 - $45.95hr (based on certification level) Environment: Unionized Advantages This global leader in commercial and military vessels offers you: - Competitive wages - Apprentice hours sponsorship - Education assistance programs - Job security when returning to class - great mentorship opportunities to advance in the trade - Comprehensive benefits plan available after 3 months probation - Wellness Program - Overtime opportunities available at 1.5x as well as 2x - RRSP matching - Employee Assistance programs - Finding housing accommodations available for the right candidate - Job/industry-specific training available - Access to joining the union on day 1 - Uniforms provided and cleaned by the employer - Holiday and Vacation payout on each paycheck Responsibilities As an apprentice Refrigeration and Air conditioning System Mechanic, a normal day would include: - Carry out HVAC installation, which includes ducting, fasteners on hangers and ducts, and insulation; - Anchor and hook-up HVAC machinery such as air handling units, fans, chillers, ventilation equipment, etc; - Assess job site and set up equipment prior to commencing work; - Follow safety protocol and comply with safety and occupational standards; - Install ducting & equipment as per diagrams and direction from the foreman; - Rigging of heavy equipment below 200lbs; - Ensure the system is prepared for commissioning as per checklists and assist Engineers and Technicians in equipment testing and commissioning; - Other appropriate tasks as requested by the foreman - Communicate daily progress and provide photos when requested. - Report safety violations and poor performance or conduct; - Identify field problems encountered and provide resolutions to the foreman; Qualifications What do you need for this position? - Sheet Metal Apprentice – Level 2 and more; - Must hold valid Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residence and lived in Canada for the last 5 years - Minimum 1-year experience in HVAC installation, marine installation preferred; - Able to interpret installation drawings; - Able to measure accurately (imperial and metric); - Demonstrated good work quality and ability to work steadily to meet project timelines; - Good physical dexterity to work in tight or awkward locations; - No criminal record, must be able to meet security clearance requirements.
