The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a temporary full-time Business Solutions Analyst (Health Informatics) in the Information Technology and Transformation division. This temporary opportunity is for a period up to April 2027.

Job description

Essential responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Chatham-Kent’s core values and competencies
  • Understand corporate business processes, identify opportunities to improve complex processes, implementing automated solutions and monitoring effectiveness of existing processes
  • Critically review complex technical documentation to understand corporate systems and determine if solutions will meet corporate goals
  • development teams, end users and project leaders
  • Develop training material, procedures and conduct training sessions for business specialists
  • Create and deploy feedback mechanisms for end users; analyze results and make recommendations to support process improvement
  • Analyze reports to ensure the integrity of information, ensuring that data entry and maintenance practices are consistent with industry best practice and corporate policy
  • Research industry best practices and technology options to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts
  • Participate in software upgrades as the liaison for any vendor requirements and the corporate requirements
  • Implement modifications including testing, sign-off, training, documentation and security set-up as required to ensure satisfactory transition to the upgrade or new software
  • Communicate changes, enhancements and modifications to project stakeholders to ensure understanding of issues and solutions

Essential qualifications

  • This position requires a minimum formal education of a three year university degree or a three year college diploma in a business solutions analysis, computer science, clinical informatics, health science, information technology and/or health informatics OR Registered member of a regulated health professional college with health informatics experience.
  • Practical knowledge of corporate business processes and experience identifying and implementing technology solutons to improve business effectivesnnes and efficiency.
  • Experience analyzing end user feedback and making recommendations to support continuous process improvement
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques
  • Ability to develop and interpret technical documentation
  • All employees will be required to complete their Health & Safety and other on-line mandatory training on or before their first day of employment; other training (including Health & Safety policies) may also be required

Certifications, memberships, licenses

  • Certificate of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) would be an asset.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification (certification required within 90 days of employment)

Work environment/hours of work

  • This position works mostly indoors
  • This position works weekday, occasional weekend and evening hours, as well as on-call after hours and on weekends.

Working Remotely

This position has been approved for a remote working model, at the discretion of the supervisor based on the Working Remotely Policy.

This position would be required to work in office for a set number of days per week and will be required to attend additional on-site meetings in order to complete essential responsibilities of the role. As per the Working Remotely Policy, employees scheduled to work remotely on a certain day may occasionally be called to a municipal onsite work location on short notice. Employees must remain flexible to accommodate municipal requirements and be prepared to be called in on short notice.

Background check requirements

required (Fixing Long-Term Care Act section 252 O. Reg. 246/22) prior to being accepted for employment. You must be 18 years of age or older to obtain a vulnerable police check.

All staff members shall promptly provide the employer with a signed declaration disclosing new charges, convictions, orders and restraining orders, consistent with Ontario Regulation section 253 O. Reg 246/22 made under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, with respect to the period since the date the person’s last criminal reference check under subsection (2) was conducted.

Essential physical and/or safety requirements

Sitting: constant sitting in a chair (constant sitting at a desk operating a computer)

  • Hands: constant fine finger dexterity (movement), mousing (constant keyboarding and operating a mouse)
  • Annual Flu immunization is required.
  • 2 step TB skin test to be completed within two weeks of starting position.
