Host Agency Support Worker Wanted

Community Living Victoria (CLV) is the largest non-profit community living service provider on Vancouver Island, and provides a range of support services to children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Support Summary: C is very active and social person. He calls himself a "trickster" and loves to be playful and pull pranks on the people in his life. C participates in Special O teams and individual sports, Operation Trackshoes events and in Power To Be activities. He also likes most outdoor activities including walking, hiking, canoeing, basketball and hockey. Cooking is a pastime C enjoys, and pizza along with Costco potstickers are among his favourite foods. C also has an artistic side, and he likes to spend time creating colourful signs on cardboard. In describing himself, C identifies as a gamer and spends a lot of his leisure time playing video games. He follows some gamers online to learn tips and tricks to playing and winning!

C is looking for someone to support him on Monday's with shopping, meal planning, yard care, laundry, cleaning and yard care. It is imperative that whoever supports him includes him in the planning, teaching, and execution of these tasks to encourage independence.

  • have previous experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities and autism
  • have a current first aid certification or be willing to re-certify
  • willing to consent to a Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Justice
  • have a Class 5 Driver’s license and vehicle
  • be creative, flexible, friendly, and able to establish trust
  • be health conscious and in good health
  • be vaccinated for Covid and are willing to provide a copy of their vaccine passport

This position is an independent contract and as such, contractors are not employees of Community Living Victoria. These contracts are renewed on an annual basis contingent upon both parties wanting to continue the contract, and if credentials are up to date.

Job Type : Fixed term contract Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $24.25 per hour

Expected hours: 3 per week
