Our client is looking for an experienced engineer for their 12-moths contract role. General Description •The E3 – Engineer is a fully qualified and accredited engineering professional who applies theoretical and practical knowledge to provide engineering design, estimating, planning, and quality management services for low to medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time. Advantages NOTE: The mentioned rates are NOT INC rates. The INC rate range is $63-$73/hr Responsibilities Experience and Role Accountabilities •A minimum four (4) years of in a relevant engineering field or equivalent. •Develop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgement to perform activities such as developing designs, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on low to medium complexity assignments for projects and/or operations. •Assist project or operations management to meet safety, cost, quality, and time objectives by performing activities such as proposing changes in plans and estimated costs, recommending payment for work completed by contractors, preparing progress reports, coordinating work schedules and other similar tasks. •Participate in company's engineering practice by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs, and making typical decisions related to standard methods and designs so that company’s engineering standards are maintained. •Perform periodic tasks independently which may include on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance. •Engage with company’s senior engineering team where engineering problems are difficult, complex, or unusual to support company’s management of engineering risk. Important notes: • Prior to commencement on assignment, the selected candidate must have their own sole practitioner, or the use of their firm’s, Permit to Practice with EGBC. • BC Registrants provided to company through this assignment shall work under company's Professional Practice Management Plan, Quality Management Pillar. The Registrant shall apply their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice Number to work that is Sealed by the Registrant. Retention and preservation of all project documentation produced by the Registrant during their contract with company will be retained by company to satisfy EGBC Bylaws. Role Specialty: Distribution - Electrical Role Specialty Description: Additional Experience and Role Accountabilities • All the required Experience and Role Accountabilities shall relate to Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV. • Support operations, maintenance, repair, replacement and expansion of the company Distribution System. • Investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, including the more challenging and unusual, by developing engineering techniques, devising new approaches and/or applying existing criteria in new ways • Provide technical guidance, instruction, and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of equipment Work Assignment Overview: Supporting the Distribution Engineering Programs team in providing engineering support of new, end-of-life, and automation programs Act as company’s Owner’s Engineer (OE) and review Engineering Service Provides (ESP) design submissions Apply company standards and design instructions Work with Distribution Regional Engineers (DRE) and ESP in providing non-standard solutions Reviewing and designing device settings in collaboration with DRE Supporting and ensuring the successful implementation and commissioning of distribution equipment Qualifications Education and Skills •University graduate in applied science or engineering •Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC •Company uses a Digital Sign and Seal Technology. You may be required to subscribe to a digital seal technology service offered by Notarius •Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standardsAbility to use standard industry design/analysis software • Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken Additional Education and Skills • Degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by universities in Canada, Power Engineering preferred • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in both Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV including automation • Broad range of distribution related skills including planning, system engineering, protection engineering, design, and project management • Demonstrated ability to perform system analysis • Knowledge of various company systems, policies and procedures, preferred • Willingness to travel • Maintain good standing in Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) throughout the term of the contract • Maintain Driver's License Class 5 throughout the term of the contract Work Assignment Requirements: Knowledge of distribution equipment up to 25kV Knowledge of Protection and Controls (P&C) for device settings Knowledge on how to perform load and short circuit studies Knowledge of company standards would be an asset Good written and oral communication skills are essential Summary Location: Edmonds, Hybrid, would consider close proximity to Vernon or Victoria offices Interested candidates can submit their resumes directly to Chandana at chandana.sriram@randstad.ca Randstad Canada is committed to fostering a workforce reflective of all peoples of Canada.
