This role reports directly to the Corporate Leader – Growth & Sustainability, and is responsible for leading and managing the land-use planning division, as well as having direct oversight of long-range planning and development approval initiatives.What’s In It For You? Competitive Base SalaryImmediate Comprehensive Benefits PlanOMERS PensionContinuous Development OpportunitiesWhat You’ll Be Responsible For:Energizing leadership to manage a diverse team, fostering collaboration and innovation in engineering projects.Organizing day-to-day operations, ensuring effective communication and continuous improvement.Providing guidance on regulatory requirements, design standards, and technical expertise.Coordinating issues, concerns, and programs, with attention to detail.Developing presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.Establishing goals and objectives, prioritizing work to achieve divisional goals.Managing land development activities, ensuring conformity with Official Plans and Municipal guidelines.Reviewing development proposals for compliance with municipal by-laws.Harmonizing hydraulic modeling analysis for wastewater and drainage infrastructure capacity assessments.Providing technical advice on storm and sanitary systems operations and managing the Consolidated Linear Infrastructure program.Ensuring responsive addressing of engineering concerns and issues.Contributing to establishing and achieving municipality goals.Managing flood mitigation projects and implementing the Flood Mitigation and Protection Frameworks.Developing and executing Flood Rapid Response Plans during significant rain events.Supporting asset management planning, infrastructure assessment, renewal, and prioritization.Coordinating traffic calming initiatives, speed reduction measures, and safety-related matters.Providing technical comments on traffic studies and operational issues.The Ideal Candidate:Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Transportation Engineering from an accredited university.5+ years as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer (eligible for licensure in Ontario)5+ years of progressive engineering experience in municipal public works, encompassing urban, semi-urban, and rural environments. Experience should include plan review, design, and approval of municipal services and transportation engineering.5+ years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized setting.Proven abilities in time management and organizational skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.Demonstrated integrity and adherence to professional standards, regulations, and corporate policies.Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.Sound judgment, initiative, and creativity in evaluating engineering solutions.Practical knowledge of municipal policies, procedures, and processes.Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and relevant civil engineering design and modeling software.Familiarity with key legislation including the Environmental Assessment Act, Municipal Act, and others.Ability to assess options within legislative frameworks and municipal policies.Thorough understanding of municipal development standards and planning processes.Knowledge of related legislation such as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and TAC Design manuals.If you have the qualifications and are interested in applying for this position, please forward a copy of your resume to angelo@logicexecutivesearch.com.
