OSSTF-ESPBU Full Time (1.0 fte) Education Assistant - Speech Language Position Rate of Pay $24.14/hour (Unqualified) and $27.14 / hour (Qualified) If you are currently an Education Assistant with KPDSB the pay remains at your current EA rate. RESPONSIBILITIES Under the supervision of the Principal and under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), the Speech Language Assistant (SLA) provides assistance to elementary students requiring support to develop/enhance their speech, language, and literacy skills. This position involves, but is not limited to, the development of programming materials, the implementation of intervention programs to students, and documentation and report writing. Assists designated student with activities of a special program, including modification and preparation of materials and activities. QUALIFICATIONS You have an Ontario High School Diploma or equivalent, as well as one of the following: Diploma in Teacher Aide Program, Child Care Worker Program, Developmental Services Worker Program, Children’s Services Program, Early Childhood Education Program, Ontario Teacher Certification, or an equivalent diploma or certificate program as determined by the Board. Behaviour Management System (BMS) training is preferred. Placement in this position will be for the 2024/2025 school year only and is subject to the following: the continued attendance of the pupil(s) involved, the continued need for an assistant, and any program changes deemed necessary by the Board.
