Intermediate Naval Technologist

Our client based out of Burnaby, BC, is looking for an Intermediate Naval Technologist to join their team. The successful candidate will support the engineering team and will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of naval systems and technologies. As an Intermediate Naval Technologist, you will apply your technical expertise to analyze, troubleshoot, and enhance the performance of marine equipment and systems. Job Responsibilities : Participate in the integration and testing of new systems, components, and upgrades on naval vessels and platforms. Support of naval systems and technologies & Assess compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and project objectives. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders to coordinate project activities, milestones, and deliverables. Review and verify design specifications, drawings, and technical documentation for naval systems and equipment. Provide feedback and recommendations for design improvements and optimization. Provide technical support to naval vessels and platforms, including onboard troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities. Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the operational readiness of naval systems. Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of naval systems, including propulsion systems, communication systems, navigation equipment, and weapon systems. Identify and diagnose technical issues, anomalies, and failures through data analysis, testing, and simulation. Conduct functional tests, performance evaluations, and acceptance testing to validate system functionality and interoperability. Document test results, identify deviations, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues and ensure compliance with project requirements. Required Skills : Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in naval technology, marine engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in technical analysis tools, simulation software, and computer-aided design (CAD) software (ShipConstructor, CADMATIC, Scantling Drawings) Experience working on ship design, construction, maintenance, or repair projects is highly desirable. Previous experience with drafting, technical documentation, or project coordination within a marine or shipbuilding environment is beneficial. Eligible for EGBC. Additional Qualifications: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop practical solutions. Knowledge of naval systems, marine equipment, and industry standards and regulations. Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of Project Management guidelines and methodologies an asset.
