Trottin-Trottinette is a non-profit early childhood centre founded in 1983, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia on the André-Piolat School site. It is administered by a Board of Directors (the ''Board'') and an Executive Director (''ED'').Reporting to the Board, the ED is responsible for driving Trottin-Trottinette’s strategic plan and its overall operations and financial management. This role involves providing visionary leadership, fostering stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the effective implementation of the organization's mission, vision, and goals.The ED will optimize Trottin-Trottinette's functioning and the provision of early childhood educational and childcare services, ensuring efficient management of human, financial, material, and real estate resources within the available financial framework and according to prescribed budgetary rules.Trottin-Trottinette offers services across four different programs to a total of 156 families and 228 children. Those programs are:Le Jardin d’Enfants: a year-round toddler program for one and two-year old children;La Prématernelle: a preschool for 3 to 5-year old children;La Garde Parascolaire: a before and after-school program;Le camp d’été Anim’atout: a summer camp for pre-school and school-aged children. Vision:To offer a welcoming and inclusive environment to children, families and educators, within the Francophone community.To provide a fun, caring, and stimulating environment that promotes the overall development of children.To support children and their families throughout their childhood (from one year old to the end of primary school).Mission: To be recognized as the standard of excellence for Francophone early childhood centres in B.C.Values: Respect, Inclusion, Solidarity, Transparency, Kindness, Individuality, Pleasure, Excellence.ResponsibilitiesLeadership and StrategyDevelop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization's mission and goals.Provide visionary and operational leadership to the organization.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Board Administration and SupportSupport operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, providing on-boarding to new Board Directors and performing an annual self-evaluation.Organize monthly Board meetings which include a management report with supporting documentation.Draft proposed policies and procedures when required.Operations ManagementOversee the organization's operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes are in place.Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.Ensure compliance with laws and licensing regulations concerning health, safety, development, and well-being of children.Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and security of premises, equipment, and materials.Financial ManagementPrepare budget forecasts for adoption by the Board.Develop, manage, and monitor the annual budget and ensure financial stability and sustainability.Complete grant applications to acquire all available funding.Manage fee schedules in compliance with legal/Government requirements.Prepare financial statements and report to the Board during monthly meetingsEnsure the application of good accounting practices and the Early Childhood Centre's tax compliance.Human ResourcesLead, motivate, and develop staff to achieve organizational goals.Ensure the organization has the right talent and capacity to meet its objectives.Oversee staff performance evaluations, professional development, and succession planning.Program ManagementDevelop and implement program projects and related policies, e.g. snack program; pet therapy program; extracurricular offerings such as weekly music, yoga and physical education classes; field trips.Ensure compliance with the ministerial guidelines such as the BC Early Learning Framework and licensing requirements. Align programs with Trottin-Trottinette's mission and the Francophone community's evolving needs. Community and Public RelationsServe as the primary spokesperson for the organization.Build and maintain strong relationships with members (parents), stakeholders (such as the school), government agencies, and other non-profits.Represent the organization in public settings and at events to enhance its visibility and reputation.AdvocacyAdvocate for the organization's mission and goals within the Francophone community and among policymakers.Develop and maintain relationships with key legislative and regulatory bodies. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field or related work experience.Minimum of 6 years experience in a management role in early childcare centres. Experience in non-profit organizations is an asset.Must be able to perform all job functions in French and English languages.Other Important Requirements:Ability to operate a minority language daycare appended to a Francophone School in BC.Knowledge of or willingness to quickly learn the BC Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, WorkSafeBC, BC Child Care Licensing Regulation.Basic to good knowledge of HR laws is essential, including international recruitment, visa/PR (legal support is available).Proven experience in creating, establishing, and managing early-learning programs.Familiarity with the British Columbia Early Learning Framework: Early Learning Framework.Familiarity with the "Accueillir la Petite Enfance" guide from Quebec: Guide.Good understanding of various laws and regulations relevant to early-learning centers, specifically for BC, or willingness to quickly learn.Good understanding of the French speaking early childcare centres: pedagogy principles, operations and the relevant constitutional framework surrounding French language education rights in Canada.Strong leadership and organizational abilities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Presentation skills are an asset.Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.Experience in financial management and grant applications.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Ability to mobilize and manage a team.Compensation:Annual Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000.Position Type: Full-time, Permanent.Coverage: Extended Health, Dental, and Life Insurance.Work Schedule:Hours: Average of 37.5 hours per week, 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM start to 4:30 PM – 5:00 PMEvening and weekend work may be required. One monthly Board meeting takes place in the evening.Daily onsite presence is required with a future possibility of a hybrid work schedule.Some travel within Vancouver lower mainland and BC is required for meetings, conferences and events.
