Days/Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Location: TEAM -ILC 1649 Mt. Newton Cross Road Saanichton, BC

Compensation: $27.90 to $29.60/hour plus $4.00/hour wage enhancement and an extensive benefits package

***: Beacon Community Services provides licensed childcare services in several facilities throughout the Greater Victoria Area and we continue to grow our team. Reporting to the Manager of Licensed Child Care Programs, the Site Supervisor joins a caring and compassionate team who ensures the well-being of children and provide quality care in a manner that is reflective of recognized best licensed care practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensure the program meets the developmental needs of all children attending the program
  • Implement nature-based activities for the children that reflect their ability to be engage.
  • Create and support inclusion for all children.
  • Overall supervision of the children registered in the program.
  • Ensure that the children are safe both emotionally and physically and are well cared for.
  • Plan and help prepare healthy snacks.
  • Ensure ongoing supervision of centre staff.
  • Maintain complete staff files.
  • Provide orientation for all new staff and those returning after extended leaves.
  • Regularly review and update staff manual in coordination with the Director.
  • Plan and hold staff meetings regularly - apprise Director of event.
  • Ensure that the centre meets all legal and licensed care requirements.
  • Arrange for sufficient staffing of the centre to meet ratio requirements stated in the Child Care Regulations.
  • Recognize, document, and take action in cases of illness, accident or suspected abuse of the children in the centre and reporting the occurrence to relevant authorities depending on the nature of the event.
  • Inform the Director of all visits and reports from the licensing authorities.
  • Ensure the operational policies and practices established by Beacon Community Services are implemented.
  • Establish and maintain a childcare program waiting list system.
  • Enroll children on the priority basis as set by Beacon Community Services.
  • Establish a system to record arrivals and departures of the children each day.
  • Establish and update the children’s records -medical, registration, and permission forms.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly newsletters to parents.
  • Meet all new parents enrolling their children in the centre and review the parent handbook, introduce staff and provide a tour of the centre.
  • Review parent handbook and provide recommendations for updates to policies and procedures as changes occur.
  • Provide the Director with timely updates to make informed decisions
  • Maintain regular contact with the Director.
  • Prepare background information on issues as required for policy development.
  • Ensure accurate financial information is available to Beacon Community Services.
  • Ensure that financial records including parent fee statements, parent tax receipts, bank deposits, petty cash, CCOFF are complete and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Prepare weekly deposits.
  • Maintain MCFD ACCB authorizations, remind parents of renewal times, and send in subsidy invoices on the 15th of the month.
  • Purchase services, supplies, food, and equipment as needed within the budget guidelines.
  • Provide information to the Director in a timely manner in support of the development of budgets

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Early Childhood Education certificate
  • A valid BC ECE license to practice
  • A minimum of three years’ previous successful experience working with children, families & working within childcare settings
  • A minimum of one year supervisory or management experience
  • Valid First Aid certificate, as outlined by Child Care Regulations (to be renewed upon expiry).

  • Exceptional energy and skills in supporting child development activities
  • Strong relationship and communication skills including effective writing abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities coupled with professionalism and a respectful and supportive approach
  • A talent for creating safe, trusting relationships with clients and other professionals
  • Ability to effectively use of Microsoft, Excel and Database
