Floor Framer - Lead Hand

Company Overview : Northplex Ltd. is a modular home company that builds and sells solid homes in Western Canada. Our stylish modular homes are built in a 165,000 square foot climate-controlled facility in Barrhead, Alberta.

Job Summary : Northplex Ltd. is currently seeking a Full Time Framer/Carpenter located in Barrhead, AB. This position is accountable to build floors, roofs, trusses and/or walls.

Position Accountabilities :

  • Read production orders, diagrams, and specification lists
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk and marking gauge
  • Determine layout for framing floors, walls and/or roof
  • Process lumber and metal components using hand and power tools (circular saw, table saw, chop saw, nail and staple gun, sander, etc.)
  • Assemble products using nails, staples, screws, bolts, or other fasteners
  • Make minor adjustments and repairs
  • Work within the larger team to create a safe, clean, and efficient workplace
  • Follows procedures accurately and carefully to ensure work is completed to the highest standards possible
  • Responsible for the use and care/maintenance of company tools, and equipment
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Maintains a “Safety First” attitude, making a personal commitment to work safely and watch out for the safety of co-workers at all times

  • Support and foster a team-oriented work environment by actively working with others to find solutions and implement new thoughts and ideas
  • Accurate allocation of labour and materials daily

  • Ability to train and teach

Qualifications :

  • Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent is required

  • Journeyman Carpenter or Apprentice Carpenter is an asset

  • 3-5 Years of equivalent experience is a must :

  • Ability to read and follow detail orientated blueprints, drawings, and written specifications

  • High attention to detail

  • Highly organized, good work ethic, willing to learn, and good attendance

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Team player with good attitude

  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Perform duties in an organized and productive manner in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
