About Nithview Community : Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.

About the Position : Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the Food Service Worker is responsible for serving food, dishwashing, and other related duties. They are also responsible to aid with food preparation under the cook's direction.

WAGE :$ 17.66-$20.76 hourly

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed or currently enrolled in Food Service Worker program from a recognized college as defined by the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, or a registered private career college in Ontario is required
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate is required

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous professional experience in a health care setting an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and special diet needs of individual residents
  • Able to operate kitchen utensils and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Able to tolerate standing and lifting throughout the workday
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be open to new knowledge and changes in the healthcare and food service fields
  • Must be able to relate, communicate and co-operate effectively with staff, residents, residents' families, and the public
  • Must be able to exhibit maturity, good judgment, and flexibility
  • Exhibit and maintain a high standard of professional knowledge appearance, behaviour and attitude
  • Possess physical and mental capabilities to provide quality resident care
  • Must show genuine concern for the elderly
