IoT Product Owner

Position Summary

Reporting to the Product Manager, the Product Owner is responsible for defining and maintaining software products backlogs, a prioritized list of features, enhancements, and fixes that must be developed. They work closely with stakeholders, customers, and the development team to gather requirements and ensure the product backlog items are well-defined and aligned with the project goals.

Main Responsabilities

  • Working closely with Otodata Product Management, define Otodata's Software vision, strategy and roadmap.
  • Act as voice of the customer for software product decisions
  • Develop detailed roadmaps for each SW product; Gathering requirements from NPI roadmap and projects; Gathering requirements for non-NPI features, enhancements, 3rd party integrations, etc.; Gathering feedback from users and non-users, leveraging heavily current user engagement with products
  • Prioritize the software development backlog for each release and ongoing release train.
  • Work closely with sales, customer service and customers to test new releases and gather feedback.
  • Work closely with software development teams to drive adoption of best-practice agile software development practices.
  • Work closely with IT team on software application infrastructure needs.

 

Education/ Experience/ Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (technical or analytical field a plus)
  • Over 5 years experience in software product ownership/management.
  • Familiarity with product and software development techniques, agile methodologies and tools including customer alpha/beta testing tools
  • Experience developing software is an asset
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (e.g., Jira) is highly desirable
  • Experience with IoT products/solutions is highly desirable.

 

Knowledge

  • Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using hard data to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Technical background with knowledge of software development and web technologies
  • Bilingualism (French and English) – oral and written.
