Communicative Disorders Assistant

Temporary - 14 months

George Jeffrey Children’s Centre is a paediatric health facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario providing occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, social work, behaviour therapy and recreation services to children and youth with physical, communication and developmental needs.

George Jeffrey Children’s Centre is seeking a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) to work as part of our collaborative team providing speech and language services within the City and District of Thunder Bay. Responsibilities include providing individual and group interventions for communication issues, creating/revising communication boards and programs, providing training and education to clients and their caregivers, preparation and maintenance of program materials and resources, and maintaining progress notes. Some travel within the District of Thunder Bay may be required.

  • Hold a Communicative Disorders Assistant Degree or Diploma
  • Be registered with CDAAC
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of an inter-disciplinary team
  • Ability to collaborate with service partners, families, caregivers and other stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative and flexible
  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication is an asset
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle

Job Types : Full-time, Fixed term contract Contract length: 14 months

Pay: $25.99-$31.11 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
