Detailed Overview Under the functional direction of the Lead Hand and the general supervision of the Supervisor, position performs skilled electrical work at the journeyman level by performing duties such as installing, altering, repairing, maintaining and servicing electrical equipment and systems. Responsibilities Reviews work requests and consults with user departments regarding specifications and other project requirements; interprets blueprints, drawings and specifications in order to determine the materials and equipment required. Performs skilled electrical work by installing, altering, repairing, cleaning, testing, removing and maintaining light, power and communication circuits including phone and fire alarm systems, and other electronic equipment and appliances such as radios and medical devices. Carries out safety checks on equipment and appliances to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Performs other related duties are required. Qualifications Education and Experience Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of British Columbia. Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Ability to organize work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications. Ability to operate related equipment. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
