The Nuna Group of Companies is now accepting resumes for an experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/ Working Foreperson with large earthworks construction projects experience.

We require a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Working Foreperson to join our Acheson Shop team. Opportunities exist to temporarily work remotely at any of our various work sites located in Northern Canada.  This role is based in Acheson with very limited need to work remotely…only in extreme cases where the field tech needs support.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Repair
  • As the sole technician in Acheson, you will perform small to medium repair tasks with assistance as required.
  • Maintenance, repair, and service of large off-road industrial equipment (haul trucks, dozers, loaders, excavators, packers, etc.).
  • Maintenance, repair, and service of smaller equipment when required - vehicles, generators, etc.
  • Recommends equipment replacement, addition, deletion, modifications, and ensures that required maintenance is completed.
  • Manage all 3rd party repair facilities - communication, coordination, estimates, work scope approvals, etc.
  Planning and Supervision
  • Plans and supervises day-to-day operations on-site.
  • Effectively plans and supervises crews on a task basis.
  • Daily planning of tasks and creating a 3-day look ahead.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Daily review of paperwork including crew timecards, FLRA's,  and coding timecards.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of employees' time sheets.
  • Ensures that orientation and training records are fully completed.
Safety and Compliance
  • Conducts daily Toolbox Meetings.
  • Participate in Task Hazard Analysis reviews.
  • Ensures adequate site-specific safety orientation and training has been completed before new employees start on their regular duties.
  • Conducts safety meetings on a regular basis.
  • Incident investigations (support Safety Advisor where required).
Client and Crew Interaction
  • In-field meetings with the client to maintain client relationships.
Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off Road) Trade Certification.
  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Red Seal).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • 5 years of previous experience working on larger industrial heavy equipment used in the mining and earthworks industry.
  • 3 years of foreman or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/SAP/JD Edwards.
  • Previous experience working in Northern Canada.
