Heavy Equipment Technician (Field or Shop)

Adcock Equipment has quickly grown to become a leader in selling quality aerial work platforms and telehandlers to a diverse customer base throughout Canada. We are looking to find a career-minded Heavy Equipment Technician (Field or Shop) to join our Langley (Aldergrove) team!

Role and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot defects in heavy duty equipment
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required
  • Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety switches, and any other necessary mechanical components
  • Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Inspect, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel powered units
  • Install and align engines and machinery
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
  • Other mechanical repair work as required

Requirements :

  • Prefer Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician’s technical training, aerial experience or well rounded mechanical skills
  • The ideal applicant will have prior experience in resealing hydraulic cylinders and hydrodynamic components.
  • Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical systems, including schematics and diagnostics
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Computer literate
  • Previous AWP, telehandler, forklift, crane, compressor, and generator experience looked on favorably

Work Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • PPE required at all times
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
  • May be exposed to construction sites
