Your ideal work environment includes a collaborative team spirit with the opportunity to learn and grow as you take the initiative to try new things.What you will do:QUALITY CONTROL AND LAB MANAGEMENT Identify and address the operational needs of a chemical quality laboratory, including the scoping and maintenance of instrumentation, hardware, glassware, safety, and documentation. Perform quality control testing on manufacturing batches, including GC-FID and aerosol performance testing, approving batches for release. Analyze data and communicate clear recommendations related to chemical quality and manufacturing. Develop analytical methods and SOPs for new products, and expanded testing of historic products. Communicate with our third party contract research organization for tests beyond internal capacity, providing task based support and direction. Review technical documentation, protocols, and testing procedures including gas chromatography (GC-FID), NMR, and other physical chemistry analyses. Generate and maintain files of relevant QC information, including study plans, results, certificates of analysis, and methods.  Develop and test new biopesticide chemical formulations and technologies. Provide mentorship and support to other chemistry team members. PRODUCT PERFORMANCE Develop and manage complex multi-year test plans that include in-lab and in-field product testing, drive multi-stakeholder project plans through to completion. Identify and brainstorm improvements to our chemical products and aerosol hardware (valves, actuators, spray technology), create testing plans, and drive these ideas to completion with manufacturing partners and internal teams. Collaborate with research, field service, and hardware quality teams in developing testing protocols for ensuring performance once our products hit the field. Coordinate testing of products in the field, perform statistical analysis on sampling, and present results of testing to inform product decisions.  MANUFACTURING Be the source of knowledge on our products for our external vendors, collaborating with them to develop and enforce requirements for testing, specifications, and documentation.  Drafting SOPs, setting specifications, and improving a quality pipeline for our raw materials, and end products. Approve manufacturing documentation and maintain appropriate batch records for production of our chemical products. This role is hybrid with an in person requirement 2-3 days per week in the lab and office in Vancouver and additionally as needed. Travel required internationally annually/biannually. Domestic travel required quarterly/biannually.RequirementsWe want you to succeed, so you will need: 5+ years experience working with analytical equipment 5+ years experience designing test plans 1-3 years experience managing multi stakeholder projects 1-3 years in manufacturing quality Experience using Gas Chromatography Experience in physical testing of hardware goods An entrepreneurial spirit with a proven track record of figuring out what needs to be done to make something better and taking the initiative to get it done Able to maintain detailed and highly organized documentation Able to communicate technical information and advocate on behalf of quality control data Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously Nice to have: Bachelor's degree or Graduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
