ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY : Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Process Plant Maintenance Planner to join our Process Plant Maintenance team reporting to the Process Plant Planning General Supervisor.

Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential . The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

The Process Plant Maintenance Planner will be responsible for providing planning and support services to the Process Plant Maintenance team to ensure that all plant activities at the Detour Lake Mine are structured in a safe, efficient, cost effective manner and with mínimal disruption to process operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES : Your responsibilities will include:

  • Produce detailed timelines and material requirements for weekly maintenance schedules and update as a result of monitoring performance to the plan;
  • Create work packages for routine and critical jobs;
  • Maintain and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to its full potential and assist and encourage others to do the same;
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvements to improve safety, efficient execution of tasks, reduce costs and increase reliability;
  • Assist in the creation of maintenance operating cost forecasts, budgets and monthly maintenance reports;
  • Work closely with the operations team and the maintenance supervisors to produce a weekly schedule;
  • Analyze maintenance procedures and make recommendations to optimize effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Technical trade qualification in a Maintenance or Engineering field, coupled with a minimum of four years’ direct experience in a Maintenance/Process department;
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning practices and an understanding of the maintenance scheduling process;
  • Expertise in SAP;
  • Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety;
  • Strong communication and highly organized.
