The Opportunity:

We're in search of an exceptional individual to assume the challenging role of Legal Assistant, supporting a thriving practice in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of experience in litigation practice, encompassing general and civil litigation, family and divorce, as well as wills and estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • transcribe, prepare, and organize general correspondence and legal documents across a range of practice areas to ensure precision and completeness.
  • and organize legal and administrative files, including thorough indexing and tracking.
  • sort, and prioritize legal pleadings, and maintain an up-to-date calendar to ensure prompt responses and actions.
  • research, including identifying pertinent legal precedents, articles, and decisions, and conducting investigative fact-finding.
  • lawyer(s) in preparing for hearings, depositions, document production, and trials.
  • in utilizing Microsoft Suite for typing, formatting, and editing presentations, correspondence, and other documents.

Qualifications:

  • attention to detail, consistently delivering high-quality work with precision.
  • in advanced computer skills, coupled with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • and confidence in working independently.
  • for critical thinking to assess the strengths and weaknesses of potential solutions and approaches to issues.
  • and effective communication, both in written and verbal forms.
  • demeanor, including adept management of client inquiries, collaboration with colleagues, lawyers, external clients, and outside service providers. Experience with high-conflict client situations is advantageous.
  • with court filing procedures and deadlines.
  • with Cosmolex is a plus

Compensation & Working Hours:

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Regular full-time position with working hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM subject to change from time to time. We provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, prescription drug, life insurance, critical illness, long term disability, vacation and sick time benefits.
