Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting a regular full-time Project Engineer, Junior (one position total from #24-U011 and #24-U010) to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Engineering Services Department. Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, in this exempt position you will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and will have the opportunity to work on municipal capital projects.

Responsibilities
In this role you will oversee the management of various projects in the Engineering Services portfolio, prepare cost estimates, develop Tender and Request for Proposal documents, liaise with consultants/contractors working on projects, and assist in budget preparation. 

Qualifications
Your education includes a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of one year work related experience with progressively more responsible project management, preferably supplemented with some experience in a municipal environment. Designation as an Engineer in Training or eligibility for membership as a registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC is required. With strong interpersonal skills, you are enthusiastic, well organized and able to liaise effectively with internal contacts, the community, consultants and contractors. Extensive computer familiarity with proficiency in spreadsheets, database management, Microsoft Office and visual presentations is required. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate leadership and the ability to interpret policies, standards, and design criteria as they affect specific projects. 

Required Certifications/Licenses 
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application. 

  • Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer membership, or eligibility for membership with the Engineers & Geoscientists of BC (EGBC)
  • BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License or equivalent driver’s license for where you reside. You must upload a current Personal Driving Record (select the 5-year option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below with your application. To obtain a copy of your Personal Driving Record, please contact ICBC directly or the driving authority where you reside. Copies or pictures of your driver’s license or Driver Factor Report will not be accepted.
