Job Title: Junior Analyst (Entry-level )

Location: Chatham, ON

Duration: 12 Months (Possibility of extension depends upon the performance)

This an entry-level role that will have great exposure to work all across the company, especially within the future-looking areas of energy conservation and energy transition. Past incumbents of this type of role have gone onto progressive positions in energy conservation program delivery, program design, market research, and marketing. If you are interested in working in the energy conservation, emissions reductions, and energy transition space, this is a great role to get your start.

What You Will Do:

• With direction and support from the Supervisor, conduct secondary research and provide analysis to support the design of new energy conservation programs and other stakeholder group needs.

• Collect secondary research from a wide variety of sources. This could involve contacting possible sources of information directly, such as employees of other utilities, channel partners, and research/data suppliers, as well as monitoring market trends that are relevant to internal clients on an ongoing basis.

• Compile jurisdictional scans, industry and utility profiles including developing and maintaining relevant contacts at other utilities for information sharing purposes.

• Conduct data entry and analysis to support research needs and requests.

• Simple project management of research and/or consulting projects conducted by third party vendors.

• Assist in broader strategic projects, such as the annual Business Planning cycle, which includes developing plans for each energy conservation program and for the sectors we offer programs in.

Who You Are:

You will have the following education and experience:

• 1-2 years relevant experience

• New grads welcome

• Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business Administration

• University degree – ideally a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Business Administration from one of the top business schools: Schulich (York), Ivey (Western), Rotman (Uof T), McGill, UBC, Queens

• Demonstrated writing skills and the ability to pull insights from a variety of sources into a coherent story.

• Demonstrated project management skills and experience in and an understanding of the research process, from proposal through final reporting.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data to extract insights and provide recommendations.

• Creative data visualization and reporting skills – ability to develop reports that tell a clear story and help make insights actionable.

• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Preferred skills:

• Moderate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.

• Knowledge of the energy industry.

• Experience working in a supporting role and influencing without authority.

• Market research training.

Working conditions:

Standard office. They may need to travel offsite for a meeting, 1-2 times over the course of a year and they could easily carpool if desired.
