Office Administrator/bookkeeper

Geocon Industries Ltd. is a growing civil construction contractor headquartered in Bow Island, AB, with an area of operations ranging throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. We undertake projects for commercial, agricultural and residential clients with a portfolio including civil work, site development, demolition, reclamation and general excavation.

We are looking for a skilled office administrator/bookkeeper to join our team as we seek to expand our business while continuing to provide professional civil construction services in an environmentally friendly fashion.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping

  • Perform accounts payable functions (data entry, track purchase orders, prepare cheques)
  • Process invoices in cooperation with project managers
  • Reconcile monthly statements (bank, credit cards)
  • Prepare biweekly payroll including timecards, pay stubs and source deductions
  • Set up new employees in the payroll system and benefits program
  • File GST returns
  • Prepare annual tax filings (T4, T5018, WCB, etc.)
  • Prepare draft financial reports for management, bankers, insurance, etc. as needed (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, etc.)
  • Record monthly and year-end journal entries

Administration

  • Maintain physical and electronic filing systems
  • Order office supplies
  • Assist management with insurance policy administration
  • Make bank deposits as needed

Requirements :

  • Prior experience in accounting and office administration
  • Formal education in accounting or business administration would be advantageous
  • Experience using Quickbooks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent organization, time management and administrative skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to work independently as well as in a fast-paced team environment
