General Accountability

Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of quality initiatives while providing support to the production and warehouse departments as well as external stakeholders. Supervise and mentor the Quality Assurance Technicians to ensure adherence to company and customer standards for product quality by performing a variety of routine to complex tasks including sampling, inspecting, record reviewing, and analyzing raw material and finished products.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Evaluate overall plant product quality through various product tests and assessments related to raw materials and packaging.
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems, and programs that ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support to meet product quality standards.
  • Resolve quality issues at production facilities, warehouses, and customer sites as needed.
  • Audit internal quality control systems to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Oversee the ‘on hold’ program, including inspection of incoming packaging and raw materials, and placing hold tags on non-conforming products.
  • Perform finished product inspections and report non-conforming items to appropriate managers.
  • Ensure online quality checks are performed by QC Technicians according to SOPs and customer requirements.
  • Prepare inspection and test reports, operate laboratory instrumentation, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Responsible for internal and external scheduled audits (Quality System Review, ISO9001).
  • Facilitate ISO certification by developing standards, documentation, and training in order to meet and exceed customer demands.
  • Addressing inquiries and concerns related to quality from both customers and consumers, ensuring a satisfactory experience.
  • Processing of sampling requests from the Commercial Team.
  • Update Production related documents as required and maintain document control.
  • Verify product formulas for production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Team Management

  • Addresses employee issues promptly and provides coaching and mentorship to employees.
  • Conducts performance appraisals and provides ongoing support to QC Technicians.
  • Ensures consistent and effective communication with other supervisors and senior management.
  • Consistently demonstrates positivity, authority, and credibility with direct reports, peers, and senior management.

Interdepartmental Relations

  • Produces and presents weekly QA reports and other KPIs as required to senior management.
  • Fosters and maintains a positive relationship with suppliers and contractors.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align resources and meet business objectives.

Working Conditions/ Physical Demands

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with repetitive work and standing/ walking for long periods.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and seasonal temperature fluctuations
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate orally in English.
  • Must have the ability to hear and have color vision.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Preferably 1-year team management experience.
  • Preferably post-secondary education in QA/QC.
  • Good understanding of production and warehouse processes and procedures.
  • Experience in reviewing quality documents (SOPs, protocols, technical reports, etc.) for consistency and compliance.
  • Preferably previous ISO 9001 process and audit experience.
  • Experience with implementing QC improvement initiatives.
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical, and attention to detail skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with employee matters.

Salary : $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
