Contract Duration: 1 year with an option to extend the contract by 2 years in 1 year increments

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Title: Risk Management Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project risk workshops and meetings to identify, assess, and prioritize risks, and develop appropriate response strategies for the Project Risk Register.
  • Support project management teams in implementing and maintaining risk management practices, including developing risk registers, running risk profiles, and establishing confidence levels for outcomes.
  • Regularly review risk registers with project teams at various stages to ensure effective risk management and provide updates to project management.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis to inform decision-making processes.
  • Compile risk information and generate quarterly reports for project managers.
  • Contribute to the development of risk management procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience as a Project Risk Professional, preferably in civil infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Proficiency in reviewing technical documents (e.g., drawings, design basis, schedules, estimates) to identify project scope and risks.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating risk workshops.
  • Hands-on experience in data collection and qualitative and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Solid understanding of basic engineering and construction methodologies.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code and related accessibility requirements is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in an engineering-related discipline, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Certification from industry-leading organizations such as PMI or AACE in Risk Management is considered an asset.
