The Program Coordinator (PC) will play an important part in the Chestermere Foodbank’s ability to provide exceptional service by developing programs, overseeing warehouse operations, work with and provide direction to the client care coordinator and volunteers. The PC will assist the Chestermere Regional Food Bank (CRFB) Executive Director in the daily activities of the Food Bank, which may include preparing reports, reporting statistics, researching best practices, working and providing direction to volunteers in the warehouse on merchandising, sorting donations, as well as booking and facilitating eligibility interviews. The person in this position will also be tasked with going out into the community to raise awareness of the food bank and its activities, work with schools in our community, and liaise with other food banks in the Food Banks Alberta network.

The Chestermere Food Bank uses the Link2Feed and Better Impact programs and you will become proficient with using both. You will also oversee the volunteer development program with input from the Client Care Coordinator; you will liaise with all schools we serve to develop and maintain programs that work well for each school. You will also perform other administrative duties as detailed by the Executive Director or CRFB Board. The PC will also work closely with the Client Care Coordinator and Executive Director to ensure volunteers are recruited and in place to deliver programs which may include school programs, Christmas hampers, adopt-a-family, backpack, snack attack, good food box, food drives, food rescue, local grocery stores, community garden, meals on wheels and any other programs which the foodbank is responsible for.

This job description should not be considered all-encompassing. One of the very important attributes is flexibility. Some weeks may have you working 40 hours per week, other weeks 10 hours per week. Additional duties may also be assigned based on the discretion of the Executive Director.

Role and Responsibilities

Overview

  • Oversee warehouse operations ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Ensure all food bank programs are managed and delivered appropriately.
  • Compile reports and assist executive director with reporting requirements.
  • Plan and implement a social media program. Manage website and all social media channels.
  • Plan and implement school programs. Create and deliver education modules to schools and community groups.
  • Plan and implement food drives.
  • Select bread and extra items.
  • Liaise with other food banks and Food Banks Alberta.
  • Work with Client Care Coordinator to ensure enough volunteers are in place for our programs.
  • Collect feedback to ensure client and volunteer satisfaction and suggest changes and implement improvements.
  • Ensure all measures are taken to protect client privacy and dignity.

  • Screen new volunteers for suitability and interests.
  • Plan and facilitate volunteer orientation.
  • Plan and facilitate volunteer retraining.
  • Plan and facilitate volunteer appreciation events.
  • Follow up with volunteers after training.
  • Update Procedures Manual as required.
  • Plan or assist with special events and fundraising opportunities.
  • Plan and schedule volunteers as required.
  • Work with Board of Directors on special projects.
  • Establish good working relationships with stakeholders in the community, including community groups, funders, political leaders and local businesses.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A background in the non-profit sector.
  • Post secondary education in volunteer management, administration, or Human Resources is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience.

Job Type : Part-time

Salary : $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
