JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE : Program Coordinator

REPORTS TO : Board President

This is a critical role to the success of the Sylvan Lake Seniors Association. Reporting directly to the Board President you are in charge of the development and facilitation of all programs and operational needs of the organization. This is a part-time permanent role with a 28-hour work week. The expected working hours would be Monday - Thursday. The Mission of the Sylvan Lake Seniors Association is to provide for the recreation, social well-being, and artistic expression of seniors of Sylvan Lake and area and to contribute to the education and social well-being of the community.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Ability to develop, facilitate, and evaluate activities and events.
  • Solicit for and arrange committees to assist with the development and implementation of these specific programs and activities
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Board of Directors, membership, volunteers, local service providers and the community
  • Recruit and supervise special interest instructors and volunteers
  • Develop and disseminate marketing tools used to promote programs and activities and to increase awareness of the Seniors Association
  • Plan, organize, and implement fund raisers for the Centre
  • Maintain the computer-based management system
  • Prepare a monthly report to the Board of Directors clearly outlining all relevant and important information
  • Purchase materials/supplies required for the delivery of programs
  • Performs duties of a Seniors Advocate by becoming knowledgeable regarding local services
  • Sit on committees and attend meetings as assigned
  • Prepare the physical space for the delivery of programs
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Seniors Association Board President, including general office functions.

Food Program Support

  • Menu design and purchasing
  • Support food preparation and weekly lunch program volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accreditation in a related Health Science Recreation Therapy program
  • Current CPR/First Aid
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Food Safety Certification Course
  • Clear criminal and vulnerable persons check
  • Combination of education and experience in geriatrics, gerontology, or a closely related field is preferred
  • A minimum of one year experience in scheduling and programing activities
  • Knowledge of marketing and advertising to promote activities, programs, and special events
  • Ability to prioritize workload to effectively utilize time, volunteers, and the facility
  • Must have a friendly disposition and caring attitude toward senior citizens
  • Highly motivated, energetic, and confident in leadership and supervisory skills
  • Available to work on occasional days off and evenings
  • Ability to budget and handle money transactions
  • Intermediate experience with Office 365

Job Types : Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
