What does your day at GIP look like?

Reporting to the Project Superintendent , the Project Coordinator will assist the Superintendent and Project Managers with daily management of projects.

Responsibilities include :

  • Read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Request for quotes from subcontractors and supplier on as required basis.
  • Understand, read, and implement project schedules.
  • Use project scheduling and cost control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Monitor, record and report production rates and construction progress on a weekly basis.
  • Identify, measure, and keep record of quantities as per contract items and assist the project manager in preparation of the monthly payment certificates.
  • Implement the environmental/safety/quality control programs as per protocols.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Site Superintendent in the cost coding and cost controlling process.
  • Attend site meetings (as required).
  • Job close-outs – responsible for ensuring actions arising from minutes are completed.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the drafting and issuance of project proposals, RFP’s, tenders, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team.
  • Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Review field inspection reports from consultants throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Track contemplated change notices and change orders in the database.
  • Keep the Project Manager and others informed about project status and issues that may affect safety/quality/client relations and profitability.

  • Civil Engineering Diploma or Degree is an asset
  • Practical construction field experience is an asset.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office
  • A valid G driver’s license
  • Experience with GPS, and other surveying equipment is an asset
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
  • Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
