Job Description The Manager, Technical Training, reports to the Senior Director, Training and Cabin Standards, and works jointly with Technical Operations at Air Transat, under the regulatory authority of the Director, Quality Assurance – Technical Operations. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of training for Technical Operations personnel with respect to requirements for maintaining Air Transat’s status as an approved maintenance organization (AMO) and an approved training organization (ATO). Responsibilities Manage the Technical Operations Training team to ensure that: The strategic plan and the projects of the Training and Cabin Standards Department are successfully implemented. The team is adequately staffed with instructors through recruitment and training, verification of qualifications and competencies, and scheduling. The team’s training files are kept current. Be responsible for all aspects of ATO certification as described in the Training Procedures Manual (TPM) and in subsections 566.10 and 566.18 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), including by: Supervising instructors, particularly through annual evaluations, to ensure they deliver training consistently and comply with the approved training programs Liaising with Transport Canada on type courses under Chapter 566 of CARs Oversee day-to-day training for Technical Operations personnel to ensure these operations are organized and efficient. Ensure the training files of Technical Operations personnel are kept current. Supervise the development and revision of training programs and documentation and ensure these comply with regulatory requirements and company objectives. Improve training programs by: Continuously evaluating feedback, safety/quality assurance recommendations, and performance metrics. Reviewing course syllabuses and proposing changes to the Director, Quality Assurance (e.g., to increase training efficiency, improve training aids). Monitor evolving training trends, best practices, and upcoming regulatory changes to ensure that the Technical Operations Training team evolves dynamically and efficiently. Liaise with stakeholders, other departments, regulators, and suppliers regarding training requirements and logistics. Fulfill all other responsibilities described for this position in the Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM). Perform any other duties related to Technical Operations Training, as assigned by the Senior Director, Training and Cabin Standards. Qualifications Diploma of college studies (DCS) in aeronautics/maintenance Aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) licence At least six years’ experience in aircraft maintenance and knowledge of maintenance training development and delivery At least three years’ experience as instructor, manager, or supervisor Strong ability to interpret policies, guidelines, and regulations In-depth knowledge of required standards for an AMO, ATO, and CARs 705 operation Ability to travel and work flexible hours Knowledge of computer-based training, learning management systems, and blended learning Leadership in setting goals and deadlines for ongoing projects with various departments Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Consummate team player who embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Bilingual (French/English): excellent writing and communication skills.
