Meet the Team The Communications Team supports the communications work of the Pembina Institute’s key policy areas by maintaining quality control of written and visual materials and by coordinating promotion through social media channels. The Opportunity We're looking for a Technical Editor to join our Communications team. This role is based out of any of the Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, or Ottawa, Canada offices. We’ll lean on you to play a key role in ensuring publications and written assets are edited in a rigorous, professional, efficient manner, in addition to providing support on other general communications tasks. Your Key Responsibilities You’ll work closely with our Senior Technical Editor as an essential part of our communications process, applying quality control techniques in the final stages before our publications and written assets are released. You will also: Edit and format technical publications, standardizing both content and layout. Support internal stakeholders with writing and building traditional and digital communications products including but not limited to web postings, emails, newsletters, social media posts, web forms, media releases, technical/scientific illustrations, briefings and submissions. Participate in the organization of communications team projects and products. What We’re Looking For You're passionate about accuracy, and you'll leverage your analytical skills, high attention to detail, and strong organizational ability to advance the Pembina Institute’s mandate. You’re also positive and consultative, with a record of building rapport. You demonstrate the ability to work independently and can work under pressure to meet shifting and overlapping deadlines. You also have: A minimum two years of prior experience editing technical documentation. Post-secondary education in communications, science, environment, or a related field. A combination of work experience and education may be considered. Very strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Word. Experience with other applications in a Microsoft 365 environment is valuable. Solid familiarity with online publishing; experience with Drupal is valuable. Prior experience with graphic design; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is valuable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of web writing/SEO/keywords as a bonus. The ability to pay exceptional attention to detail. The ability to learn quickly. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to juggle priorities. Compensation and Benefits The hiring range for the position is $61,800 to $68,495 annually based on a 37.5-hour work week , with a range maximum of $75,190. Within this range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, related experience, education and/or training, and internal equity.
