As one of BC’s most integrated Forest Management companies, Infinity-Pacific Stewardship Group (IPSG) offers an impressive array of opportunities. We currently have a position available for a “Forest Professional” in our coastal division based out of Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Responsibilities
  • Working with a team of Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs) at IPSG within various aspects of forestry
  • Developing site plans in the field and in the office, including reviewing professional reports, assessments and constraints for proposed development areas
  • Writing silviculture prescriptions
  • Reviewing, understanding and implementing plans consistent with BC Forestry Legislation, Regulations and Policy & Practices, guidelines, best management practices, higher level plans, etc.
  • Managing projects to ensure budget and deliverable targets are achieved
  • Developing landscape-level management plans and strategies for small tenure holders, including forest stewardship plans, total resource plans and retention strategies
  • Implementing and supervising silviculture activities, including planting and brushing
  • Assisting area managers and lead engineers in the field with cutblock layout and design
Requirements
  • Member of the ABCFP as an RPF, RFT, FIT or TFT
  • 3 years of experience in developing site plans, writing silviculture prescriptions, managing forestry-related projects and/or supervising silvicultural activities
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Experience working in the field in all weather conditions
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Technical report writing and editing skills
  • Safety conscious
  • Willingness to travel for work
Assets
  • Experience in coastal cutblock and road layout and design
  • Experience with RESOURCES (Cengea) data system entry
  • Experience with silviculture surveying and / or timber cruising
  • Familiar with BC Forestry Legislation, Regulations and Policy & Practices
  • Experience with ecosystem identification and classification as per BC’s Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification system
  • Experience in developing and writing landscape-level plans, including writing rationales for the recommendations
