Aldaview Services, a division of Tri-County Mennonite Homes (TCMH), is a not-for-profit service agency located in New Hamburg that has provided leadership in service to developmentally disabled individuals for over 30 years. Our growing and changing organization is searching for a Summer Student to be part of the Aldaview Services staff team.

About the role : Primary area of work:

  • Assist with support to summer respite/activities program

Duties to include:

  • Assist in providing support to individuals within day
  • time recreation.
  • Work as a member of the Aldaview team to promote quality of life for those supported
  • Assist and support individuals with meeting the activities of daily living including personal hygiene, and life skills

Qualifications :

  • Experience working with people with a developmental disability would be an asset

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills

  • An interest in working with adults with a developmental disability

  • In order to be considered for the Canada Summer Jobs Program, you must:

  • Be between 15-30 years of age :

  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment and :

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to advocate for others
  • Strong problem-solving skills and takes initiative in making improvements
  • Ability to contribute to a safe environment for co-workers and clients.
  • Can communicates respectfully, openly and honestly.
  • Demonstrated experience working with adults with an intellectual/developmental disability is preferable.
