Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Transmissions) to work on a 24-month contract with potential of renewal, for one of BC's largest utility and energy companies.The person in this role is responsible for providing innovative engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium to high complexity projects and operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.Responsibilities:This role requires demonstrated experience with the electrical design for Overhead - lines and underground cables for operating voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment.Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with company project and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis', calculations, hazard logs, test plans).Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates.Prepare designs for existing and new facilities.Perform various engineering calculations in accordance with regulatory and industry standards such as electrical clearances, electromagnetic and electrostatic field calculations and related induction studies, transient over voltage, switching voltages, AC interference, ampacity, radio interference, audible noise, lightning protection, grounding, arcing, soil resistivity, EMTP.Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems on Transmission Overhead - Lines such as line surge arresters, line disconnect switches, lightening protection, circuit to circuit separation.Prepare reports for internal and external clients detailing investigations, evaluation, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.Provide technical guidance and review of designs prepared by others following established practices.Manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost.Requirements: 10+ years’ experience within a similar roleP.Eng with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BCPower system grounding experience: soil resistivity measurements and modelling, grounding design, step and touch potential analysis, risk-based hazard assessment.Experience with Electrical design for overhead transmission lines: electrical clearances, insulation coordination, insulation design, lightning protection.Experience with AC interference analysis: electromagnetic interference between powerlines and pipelines, railways, fences, etc.Software skills: General programming in MS Excel, existing experience in modelling using EMTP-RV, WinlGS or SES Tools (CDEGS, HIFREQ, ROW Pro, MALZ).For more current job opportunities, Follow MatchBox at linkedin.com/company/matchbox-recruitment/ _________________________ About MatchBoxHeadquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is one of the leading recruitment and solutions firms that specializes in the fields of IT & Technology, Engineering & Technical, Real Estate & Construction, and Accounting & Finance.
