Outbound Dispatcher

The Dispatch/Planner is responsible for the following:

  • Throughout shift, continually review list of loads and their respective points of origin, destination, pick up and delivery time.
  • Follow processes and procedures for effective planning.
  • Plan personnel and equipment according to fairness, proximity (minimizing empty miles) and equipment type required for loads as well as hours of service and maximizing utilization.
  • Ensure that operator’s skill support movement of the load (i.e. hazmat, reefer, FAST), that border crossings and customer requirements are entered correctly, and ACE transmissions are completed accordingly.
  • Ensure accurate and timely load requirements are conveyed to operators.
  • Coordinate load securement devices i.e. load bars, logistics bars, straps.
  • Promote safety, service excellence and teamwork amongst co-workers and drivers.
  • Have a complete a thorough knowledge of legal demands i.e. hours of service, weight restrictions, customs clearance.
  • Ensure accessorial charges are noted where applicable.
  • Answer satellite and telephone messages promptly.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to keep trailer banks at desired level and schedule/reschedule delivery appointments as required.
  • Accountable for service issues that are a result of planning errors. Ensure follow through with corrective action.
  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions for the team.
  • Communicate concerns/roadblocks/discrepancies or disciplinary concerns
  • Inform Logistics of shipments that they should broker when faced with capacity constraints.
  • Report to Sales/Customer Service Associates any roadblocks/difficulties faced with their customer’s shipments.
  • Work closely with Fleet Support/Planners in equipment breakdown situations and to ensure safeties and services are completed timely on all equipment.

Salary : $25.00-$33.00 per hour
