FortisOntario is a leading private sector utility in Ontario with approximately 68,000 customers. We are seeking a leader with a passion for regulatory and compliance to support our operating companies including Canadian Niagara Power, Cornwall Electric, Algoma Power and Wataynikaneyap Power PM.

The Role:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all OEB rules, regulations, codes, decisions, directives, and orders along with relevant legislation such as the OEB Act, Electricity Act, and associated regulations.
  • Ensure that all FortisOntario affiliates follow and adhere to all regulatory instruments and their Conditions of Service documents are maintained and up to date.
  • Negotiate and implement new Retail Service Agreements.
  • Monitor active OEB policy initiatives and consultations to assess the potential impacts on FortisOntario subsidiaries.
  • Communicate and coordinate implementation of policy changes, rule changes and rate changes with other departments as required.
  • Design, prepare, and file reports utilizing the SAP customer service and finance modules.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and summaries for internal stakeholders.
  • Provide regulatory and/or engineering expertise to support major projects and acquisitions within FortisOntario.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Customer Engagement and Regional Managers to ensure alignment of customer engagement activities with OEB requirements and expectations.
  • Support the Customer Service, Engineering, and Metering departments with customer interactions as required to ensure regulatory compliance, awareness of energy-efficiency incentive programs, and awareness of rate relief initiatives.
  • Manage prior energy efficiency programs and evaluate opportunities related to emerging programs.
  • Oversee, lead, and inspire the staff position of the Regulatory Analyst

The Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration - Finance and/or Engineering
  • CPA, MBA or P.Eng considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of OEB regulations and legislation related to the electricity sector
  • Minimum of five (5) years electrical utility experience managing regulatory affairs
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

This opportunity reports to the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for FortisOntario Inc., and has one Regulatory Analyst as a direct report. This opportunity is located at our corporate office in Fort Erie, ON. Remote working on a partial basis will be considered.
