Work Arrangements The Sport Science (SPSC) Department in the Faculty of Science & Technology at Douglas College is seeking a probationary regular instructor for the 2024-2025 academic year. This position may be up to full-time (100%), depending on availability and expertise of the successful candidate.The successful candidate must be able to teach at either one of the two Douglas College Campuses, in New Westminster and Coquitlam.Workload is assigned each year based on available sections. The Role The Sport Science Department at Douglas College offers a 4-Year Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching (BPEC) with available Kinesiology or Health Promotion concentrations, a 2-Year Diploma in Sport Science with optional Specializations in Kinesiology or Health and Recreation and a Post-Degree Diploma in Kinesiology. Students can also complete a 2-Year Graduate Diploma in Physical and Health Education.The Sport Science Department is recognized within Douglas College as a program-innovation leader and within British Columbia for its applied and experiential approaches to learning. Our graduates are prepared for immediate work or further study in physical education and kinesiology-related professions. Responsibilities As a faculty member in the SPSC department you will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction. You will also be expected to attend meetings, participate in faculty and college-wide committees and engage in ongoing professional development. To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need - Master’s degree in an applicable field required (PhD preferred)- Teaching experience at the college or university level including curriculum development and implementation- Field experience in physical education, kinesiology, or sport and coaching- Research or sport consulting experienceApplicants will be considered based on their expertise and experience in available subject areas and their post-secondary qualifications.
