Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills, be hard-working and work cohesively in a team environment or on their own. They must not be afraid to clean. Must have at least 1 year working in a professional pet care position such as daycare, kennel, vet, groomer, shelter etc. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays. Applicants need to hold a valid Class "G" Ontario Licence with reliable transportation, as we are not on a bus route. Requirements for the job are: - Kennel care: providing basic care to boarding animals including feeding, grooming, providing medication, and documenting routine. - Provide animals with appropriate food and clean water on an as-needed basis. - Assist in animal care and handling including medicating (injectable, transdermal, oral) or providing care as directed. - Evaluate all animals for an overall look while checking in and cleaning taking note of any special concerns ie. matting, long nails and report findings to Management. - Provide relevant updates or concerns on a regular basis to Management. - Regular and ongoing cleaning of cottages and facility including but not limited to : laundry, floors, taking out the trash and recycling, cleaning play areas, bathrooms and kitchen. - Properly holding and restraint of felines. - Heavy lifting required-up to 50 lbs - Ability to manage physical requirements of a position for extended periods of time. - Ability to climb a step ladder safely. - Inventory maintenance: including unpacking products, date checking and shelving. - Answering phones and making appointments as required. - Check in / Discharge clients, take basic vaccination history, dietary and medicine instructions. - Relay appropriate information to/from clients to management. - Maintain proper documentation, able to use window based computer system, email, web search and other skills needed to effectively. - Build and foster effective relationships with staff, volunteers, clients, and community agencies. - The above statements are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities for the position.
