Hughes Safety Showers, NA currently has a Part Time opening for Purchasing Assistant in Sarnia, Ontario . Hughes Safety Showers is a world leader in the manufacturing of emergency safety showers, eye/face wash and decontamination equipment designed to operate across all industries regardless of location, climate or local hazards.

Position Overview

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for supporting the Hughes Purchasing team by navigating through various roles and responsibilities. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to gain integral experience which will enhance their career development in the Supply Chain Industry.

Role: Purchasing Assistant Part-Time (Up to 30 hours a week)

What do you need to succeed?

  • Enrollment or completion of a Supply Chain or Purchasing Diploma/Degree, or relevant Business Degree
  • Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet work deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with any ERP system will be an asset.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Generate and issue purchase orders to suppliers daily
  • Assist the Purchasing Team with Stock Replenishment and Inventory Accuracy.
  • Perform Cycle counts for priority SKUs on a regular basis
  • Support the Purchasing Team with RFQs, price adjustments and data consolidation wherever required.
  • Support the Purchasing team on various projects and cost savings initiatives.
  • Ensure that prices on purchase orders are accurate and check for any variation between PO and invoice.
  • Perform activities in ERP System to support purchasing
  • Assist the Purchasing Team in strategic sourcing of components and provide cost-effective recommendations wherever possible
  • Performs other duties as required
