ObjectiveEffectively manage aggregate and asphalt quality control and quality processes to ensure performance, manage costs, use reserves efficiently and ensure customer satisfaction. Primary Responsibilities Safety: Implement safety policies in compliance with government legislation. Oversee the implementation of occupational risk analyses of QC tasks; develop and oversee the implementation of risk reduction plans. Execute and implement laboratory/QC safety improvement plans.Coordinate relevant safety training for all QC staff supervised. Asphalt product performance: Establish programs and accountabilities to ensure compliance of all products with relevant standards, specifications and codes. In charge of Asphalt mix design development and approval process as well mix design optimization in compliance with codes, standards and codes Collaborate with plant operations to ensure process accuracy and quality using tools such as process accuracy, standard deviation and coefficient of variation reports. Establish and track key performance indicators and communicate them to primary stakeholders as required. Check deviations from targets and implement corrective measures as needed. Manage and lead the quality incident investigation, problem resolution and corrective measure processes. Set up a case study database. Maintain the Quality Incident Reporting system (QIR). Collaborate with regional sales teams to review project specifications and recommend appropriate mixes in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications to support marketing/sales initiatives. Collaborate with the regional technical performance team in the preparation and presentation of technical documents on mixes requested by customers, in accordance with Lafarge policy. Develop, evaluate and adjust asphalt mixes and add them to SAP. Track targets and ensure that minimum sampling frequencies set out in the quality plan are met. When required, participate in daily control tests. Aggregate product performance: Establish programs and accountabilities to ensure compliance of all products with relevant Codes, Standards, and Specifications. Establish, monitor and communicate Aggregate KPI performance with key stakeholders as required. Establish and implement Quality control protocols and processes for Construction Demolition Wastes, recycled aggregates and environmental soils/infill. Lead actively in collaboration with Sales and Operations, reserve and inventories management and optimization initiatives. Establish and lead AggGrow initiatives on all aggregates sites, depots and asphalt plants. Investigate variances from Plan and establish corrective actions as required. Lead the development and implementation of specific actions to reduce and/or utilize long products, including innovating new combination materials. Provide a critical technical link between Sales and Operational staff to ensure alignment of product performance vs customer expectations. Work with Commercial and Operations team to review all large Project Specifications; Recommendation of Appropriate Alternatives products in Support of Marketing/Sales Initiatives, and in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications. Work with Regional Commercial teams for preparation and submission of Documentation requested by Customers in Accordance with Lafarge Policy. Work with Regional Manager teams for SAP management, Production/Shipping and KPI Reporting. Quality management and certifications: Support the preparation and submission of LEED documentation for GMA aggregates and sites, depots and asphalt plants In charge of the quality and technical activities for GMA area Lead Quality Audits with QC Supervisor and Operations Participate in or oversee safety audits, including the development and implementation of quality improvement action plans. Prepare statistical analyses of plant operating performance, oversee investigative efforts to determine major causes of variances and implement corrective measures (aggregate and asphalt). Track the calibration of laboratory and plant equipment at the established intervals. Conduct an impact study when a calibration non-conformity is detected. Technical support: Perform Quality Audits, Develop Action Plans for Quality Improvement and Monitor Progress of Implementation. Analyses of Aggregates & Asphalt Plants Operation Performance, and Lead Investigative Efforts to Identify Root Causes and Implement Corrective Actions. Provide Expert Customer Support – Field Sales Support and Quality Incident Investigation and Resolution. Develops a material application training program to demonstrate the impact to the downstream products (RMX, HMA, Pre-cast, etc.) for Operational Personnel. Develop, Standardize and Implement Quality Plans and Processes. Represent Lafarge as Required at Industry/Trade Associations and Technical Committees. Promote Lafarge Innovative Products to the Specifying Community. Build relationships with Provincial Materials, Municipal and specifying engineers and major commercial specifying engineers to drive value for the customer and Lafarge. Develops a Technical Sales Support program to include internal sales and marketing training with regards to aggregates, asphalt, recycled aggregates and material application, external customer training to understand the value of Lafarge aggregates, leverages technical expertise across the Market Areas to drive value for our customers and Lafarge. Product development, utilizing new and or innovative products and project specification review before the quoting or bidding process. Human resources: Hire, Train and Develop Technical/QC Staff within the Quality Department for Promotion either within or outside QC. Lead Technical Development and Expertise of QC Staff in Aggregate, Asphalt and Recycled Aggregates Production and Applications Develop and Implement technical and soft skills training program for QC Staff Local Succession Planning & Manage Daily Activities of Technical Staff (Quality Supervisor, Lab Assistant & Quality Technicians) Financial responsibilities: Prepare and manage the annual Budget and participate in the monthly review process. Establish and manage processes to optimize production targets to ensure products meet standards and customer expectations at the lowest cost possible. Minimize potential Cost of Quality Claims Relationships with Other Jobs: Liaise with operational and sales personnel Establishment of Product Performance Goals and Objectives ensuring alignment across functions Minimization/Utilization of Long Products - AggGrow initiatives Root Cause Analysis and Reporting of Product Quality Incidents Technical support for all products Support Mining Plans Support strategies for commercial and operational plans Troubleshooting/Customer Service Liaise with regional and market sector quality assurance and with the property management group.
