Reporting into the Vice-President of Fleet Management, you will use your many years of Fleet Management expertise to lead the Maintenance team in a wide array of responsibilities, including motivating and managing your staff. Responsibilities:Oversee Shop Management including scheduling of Technicians and managing work ordersManage 3rd party Service providers for preventive and corrective maintenance programsWork to ensure timely completion of repairsWork to ensure the appropriate usage of equipment, tools and unitsInspection of units for cleanliness, damage, and mechanical issuesTest drive equipment to ensure functioning properlyMaintain and update files related to vehicle and equipment maintenanceMaintain and update Equipment listing and Fleet Asset Management modelWork with dispatchers to schedule PM and CM serviceMake decisions/determinations on unit safetyWork within Transportation Management team to develop operational efficiencies, standardize where possible and manage towards strategic goalsIdentify and implement operational improvement initiatives that provide service, financial and/or productivity resultsParticipate in critical reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, inspections and improvement opportunities resulting in effective implementation of corrective actionsManage Maintenance team through effective communication, establish focus and maintain a consistent and fair approachDevelop employees through objective setting, continual feedback and coachingDevelop Training Plans for new employees and ensure all training development plans for current employees are created and completed in a timely manner Ensure compliance with applicable Policies, Procedures, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulationsQualifications: 10+ years of progressive experience in Fleet Maintenance, ideally with significant time spent with perishable productsBachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Truck and Transport Mechanic Certification or equivalent experience an assetStrong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of Excel, MS Office, TMS and BI database tools are requiredMust have the ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and employees and make decisions in a timely, professional mannerCooke offers full-time year round employment, competitive rates and a competitive benefits package which includes health and dental as well as a company matched pension.The Opportunity The role description is just one part of the story.
