Schedule : Work Days : Monday to Friday, Occasional Weekends, Holidays Time of Day : Days, Afternoons, On-Call, Stand-by Shift : 7.5 hour This position may be scheduled at any of the following sites : Charlton Campus (Hamilton Downtown), King Campus (Stoney Creek East Hamilton), West 5th Campus (Hamilton Mountain)

Position Description : Temporary Assignment - approximately 2 years

***: Reporting to the Pharmacy Automation Systems Manager, the Automation Analyst (Pharmacy) performs a variety of duties directly related to the development, implementation, and day-to-day support of the pharmacy automation systems and other related pharmacy technology as designated by the manager.

The Automation Analyst will map workflows, liaise with stakeholders and vendors, build the drug database, configure system settings, develop training plans, engage in training, support go-live and troubleshoot issues.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Three year College Diploma or higher education in technical field (eg. Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) required
  • Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a regulated Pharmacy Technician is preferred
  • Successful completion of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program preferred (Note: CCAPP = Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs), OR Graduation from an OCP recognized Pharmacy Technician Training Program and completion of the Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program required to become an OCP-Registered Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • At least one year of related experience working with pharmacy automation systems and supporting drug packaging systems required
  • At least one year of hands-on experience using an automation system in an end-user capacity required
  • Extensive knowledge of hospital pharmacy drug distribution process is an asset
  • Ability to map and design process workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Demonstrated history of completing tasks on schedule
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail and good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well in a team with diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds
  • Previous experience in adult training is an asset
  • Excellent attendance and work record are required

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Support various pharmacy project initiatives; provide data and configuration changes, system testing, prepare documentation of change specifications, and participates in go-live support.
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance in re-configuring, testing and developing, installing, upgrading, maintaining and troubleshooting the applicable pharmacy automation systems.
  • Responsible for training of hospital staff in use of pharmacy automation.
  • Builds, generates and interprets reports from the pharmacy automation systems.
  • Prepare and present status reports and ad hoc reports, create test plans, analyze test cases, identify issues and escalate them as appropriate and assists management in the interpretation of available information.
  • Accountable for the systems which are being implemented and supported.
  • First line contact for receiving issue tickets.
  • Responsible for engaging with the vendor for support, upgrades and escalation issues as the primary contact and coordination point for issue resolution.
  • Working overtime within complement is expected in order to meet project deadlines.
  • Perform duties in a manner that demonstrates the employee’s commitment to developing a culture of patient and staff safety through accountability, reliability, trust and team work.
  • Work in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner.
  • All other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK : Monday - Friday; primarily days. May require work on evening and weekends. Expected to rotate with other automation systems staff for on call support.
