Pinchin is seeking a Environmental Scientist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Tilbury and Sarnia office.Reporting to the Project Manager, the Environmental Scientist will conduct effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections and audits. You will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health and safety documentation, prepare technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.A Day in the life of a Environmental Scientist at Pinchin: Conduct site investigations – asbestos, mould, mercury, PCBs, lead etc.Collect and interpret various building material samples Conduct field work, including visits to sites and supervise remediation activities Coordinate and supervise sub-contractorsInterpret and analyze sample results in relation to legislative requirements and industry-accepted guidelinesPrepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous building material concernsInspect abatement contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completedCollect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samplesBusiness development to existing clientsManage time of projects effectively and efficientlyLiaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and metDevelop and maintain positive client relationshipsMaintain and enhance quality control within the groupWhat you bring to the Pinchin team:College diploma in Environmental, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Applied Science in Engineering or equivalentFamiliarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelinesProficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)Exceptional oral and written communication skills Self-directed and matureExcellent organizational skillsHigh attention to detailMust be able to read technical specifications, drawings and reportsValid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required Availability to travel to clients’ sites (short-term work-related travel) Availability to work outside of core business hours and on occasional weekendsWhat Pinchin offers you A challenging, rewarding leadership position with the opportunity to mentor junior technical professionals Competitive compensation, benefits, and Extended group benefits (we pay the premium) with no waiting period Membership in our internal Communities of Practice, a national support network for technical problem solving and collaboration led by our top technical expertsCasual dress code Profit share bonuses and an RRSP Matching Program Flexible workplace to support work life balanceVarious professional development and employee recognition programs Educational and professional membership dues reimbursement Employee Referral Bonus ProgramCorporate Discount ProgramWhat’s next?
